«Igor Tolstunov's Producer Company» has presented the first teaser of the film «Icebreaker», which from November 26 can be seen at screenings of the film «Macbeth» in cinemas throughout the country.
In the first 24 hours after being posted on YouTube, the clip garnered more than 300 thousand views and took first place in popularity.
The film directed by Nikolay Khomeriki is based on real events and tells about the forced drift of the research vessel «Mikhail Somov» off the coast of Antarctica. This is a story about the struggle with the elements, about strength and courage, about overcoming oneself – a story about our country and its people, real-life heroes.
The lead roles in the picture are played by Pyotr Fyodorov, Sergei Puskepalis, Anna Mikhalkova, Alexander Yatsenko, Alexander Pal, Vitaly Khaev, and others.
Filming took place in Murmansk on the nuclear icebreaker «Lenin», in St. Petersburg on the icebreaker «Yermak», in snow-covered fields on the Kola Peninsula, and in specially built sets in Sevastopol.
During the entire filming period, 12 types of synthetic snow, 7 tons of paraffin, and hundreds of meters of chroma key fabric were used.
The project consultant – honored polar explorer, former captain of «Somov» Yuri Nasteko – was responsible for the authenticity of what happens on screen.
Now the film «Icebreaker» is in post-production, with special attention being paid to computer graphics work.
The release of the picture is planned for the fall of 2016.
