PROFIT Film Company has begun shooting a new feature film

On August 30, 2015, «Igor Tolstunov's Producer Company» («PROFIT») with the participation of «Etalon-film Film Company» began shooting a fantasy comedy with the working title «The Monk and the Demon». The film's director is Nikolay Dostal («Cloud-Paradise», «Penal Battalion», «Petya on the Way to Heaven»), the director of photography is Levan Kapanadze («The Test», «Yolki-2», «Bablo»), the screenwriter is Yuri Arabov («Moloch», «Taurus», «Faust»).  The lead roles are played by Timofey Tribuntsev, Georgy Fetisov, Boris Kamorzin, Roman Madyanov, and others.

The action of the picture unfolds in Russia in the first half of the 19th century. The plot is based on the story of the monk Ivan Semyonovich, who appeared in a men's monastery. Together with him, a demon in the guise of a man named Legion penetrates the monastery, and constantly tempts Ivan.

«Humor, grotesque, and even farce – these are the genre components of the film's artistic fabric», –  says the film's director Nikolay Dostal. «Many events in the film will seem implausible, however, reading the lives of Russian righteous ones and elders, you believe in the possibility of these «miracles». Of course, such «miracles» can only be reproduced on screen with the help of clear, professionally verified special effects, without which we cannot do».

Filming of the film began in the Vologda region on the territory of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, created in 1924 within the walls of the closed Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.

The film crew will visit Jordan in the ancient city of Petra, as well as on the shore of the Dead Sea. In Crimea, the Eastern bazaar of Jerusalem will be recreated and a set of the square in front of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre will be built.

«This story is attractive not only for its plot and language of narration, but also for its deep content», – comments PROFIT's general producer Igor Tolstunov. «We hope that the film will be interesting to a wide audience, because such eternal philosophical questions as the confrontation of good and evil, temptations, and strength of spirit are raised in a light, almost comedic form».

         Filming of the film will continue until mid-November of this year, completion of the production of the picture is planned for the spring of 2016.
