Last week the San Sebastián International Film Festival announced the participants of the New Directors debut films competition. For the first time in 11 years the festival will feature a Russian film – Nigina Sayfullaeva's feature debut «Name Me» will represent Russia and compete for the prize with the other 12 entries in the programme.
«It is a great honour for me to present my film at such a prestigious festival — I could only dream about it. But the most important thing is to realise that what moves me can move people around the world. When you come up with a story, it is personal; when you shoot it, it no longer belongs only to you. And now I will gladly share it with the participants and audience of the San Sebastián festival. This is my first trip to an international festival, and my family is very proud of me — perhaps this is the most valuable thing for me,» comments the film's director Nigina Sayfullaeva.
This summer «Name Me» won the main prize of the «Baltic Debuts» festival and the special jury prize of the XXV Kinotavr Film Festival «For Light Breathing and Artistic Integrity».
