As a result of court proceedings held on December 16, 2013, the court ruled to deny Yuri Bykov's appeal and left the Arbitration Court's ruling of October 9, 2013 in full force. Yuri Bykov is obliged to return almost 2.2 million rubles to the producers of the series «Stanitsa».
As a reminder, in the summer of 2012 the series «Stanitsa» was filmed at the request of Channel One. Yuri Bykov was invited to direct. In the heat of the shooting process Yuri Bykov left the set without explanation, announcing his refusal to continue working. After disappearing from the set Yuri Bykov was out of contact and his whereabouts could not be determined, although neither before nor after his disappearance had Yuri Bykov ever raised any complaints with the company regarding performance of the contract.
In order not to interrupt production, the producers were forced to find a new director at short notice and bring him into the filmmaking process as quickly as possible.
Yuri Bykov only surfaced after receiving a written claim from the producers, which had been sent to him as part of the pre-trial dispute resolution procedure under the contract. But within the deadlines set by the contract and the claim Yuri Bykov did not fulfil a single demand from the producers, which forced them to turn to court. The first hearing in this case took place on May 28, 2013.
The court's decision can be reviewed on the official site of the Moscow Arbitration Court at www.msk.arbitr.ru.
