On September 1 an exhibition dedicated to the Russian disaster movie «METRO» opened in the small hall of the photohub_Manometr exhibition space, located at the ARTPLAY design centre.

The exhibition, which reveals the secrets of working on such a complex and demanding genre, drew great interest from the audience. Visitors studied the photographs with rapt attention and asked questions about the filming process of «METRO».

Video clips about the shoot of the picture, shown on a plasma screen in the exhibition hall, were also very popular.

In the first few days of operation, around 1,000 people visited the exhibition. On opening day it was visited by the film's creators and members of the crew.

For the first time after many months of editing, the film's director Anton Megerdichev made a public appearance. Only recently the producers of «METRO» approved the director's cut of the picture, which means that work on the film has entered the home stretch.

«I think we've made a worthy film, one that won't be embarrassing. At this stage I'm satisfied with the result,» said the director. «Now we just have to wait for the work on the CGI, sound, colour and music to be finished. I hope the overall result of these efforts will delight all of us. As for the exhibition, I'm sure it will be interesting to a wide audience — both those not involved in filmmaking and those who are interested in it or part of it. I personally, however, would have liked to see twice as many photographs, with more of all of us creators, including me,» the director joked.

Lead actresses Elena Panova and Ekaterina Shpitsa also came to see the exhibition. Katya saw the finished clips of the film for the first time. «What I saw impressed me,» the actress shared.

Besides the actors, director and crew, the first visitors to the exhibition were, surprisingly enough, children. Viewing sessions were opened by a family with a boy of about six, and later the hall filled with guests with six-month-old babies. Lena Panova and Katya Shpitsa, both recent mothers, also came with their children.

«Yes, I made a children's film,» the director joked, looking at this scene.

A reminder: the «METRO in Cinema» exhibition presents a series of photographs and video clips reflecting the scale of the disaster movie METRO. They show the authenticity of the sets and the non-standard special equipment developed specifically for the shoot. The photos were taken by popular internet bloggers and direct participants in the filming process.

Those who have not yet visited the exhibition still have an opportunity to see everything with their own eyes. The «METRO in Cinema» exhibition is open for visits from September 1 to 26, from 12:00 to 21:00 daily, except Mondays. Admission is free.
