The film company «PROFIT» presented the disaster movie «Metro» at the 87th March Film Market. As part of the presentation of projects by «Nashe Kino», the film's distributor, the second teaser of the film was shown.
Unlike the first, which relied almost entirely on computer graphics and gave no sense of the plot, the second is based solely on footage from the film. It reveals the story's threads, is full of dramatic moments, and clearly demonstrates the scale of the project. General producer Igor Tolstunov presented the second teaser to the market attendees and said a few words about the film's promotion, on which around 100 million rubles will be spent. According to the professional film-industry portal kinobizon.ru, «the promo trailer “sold” the project to the Film Market. Large-scale, distinctive, really showing enormous volumes of water on screen (the Moscow River versus the Moscow metro), tense and unexpected – as a story the film is not an “unofficial remake” of any of the blockbusters of the past decade, which is another plus.» According to the same source, the picture does have risks, but «this film can undoubtedly be sold widely.» The second promo clip was made exclusively for a professional audience. Work on the full trailer is currently underway.
Beyond the teaser, attention to the project was drawn by «metro staff» in uniform, who handed all Film Market visitors invitations to the presentation in the form of actual metro transit tickets, along with a mini-booklet with information about the film, a Moscow underground map and a list of entertainment venues near the World Trade Center.
The film company PROFIT plans to make a louder announcement of the picture and present more materials at the next Film Market, in Sochi.
Other media on «Metro» at the Film Market
Kinopoisk.ruThe most ambitious project in the company's package — the disaster movie «Metro» — is due to be released at the end of the year. It was personally presented by producer Igor Tolstunov. The promo reel, made specifically for the market, so far consists mostly of dramatic moments, since work on the CGI is in full swing and the spectacular scenes are not yet fully ready. As a reminder, the story of «Metro» has tons of water from the Moscow River breaking into the capital's underground, and in one of the stranded carriages a doctor (Sergei Puskepalis), his daughter and — quite by coincidence — his wife's lover (Anatoly Bely) find themselves trapped. More detailed material on the film will be available at the Sochi market.
METRO (launch – end of 2012), the third title in Nashe Kino's 2012-2013 New Year package, was presented by producer Igor Tolstunov. Shooting wrapped on November 6; the trailer is currently being assembled. A little was revealed about the plot and its characters. A pleasant surprise was the news that two of the male characters are the heroine's husband and lover (played by Khodchenkova). The promo trailer “sold” the project to the Film Market. Large-scale, distinctive, really showing enormous volumes of water on screen (the Moscow River versus the Moscow metro), tense and unexpected – as a story the film is not an “unofficial remake” of any of the blockbusters of the past decade, which is another plus. This film can undoubtedly be sold widely, but the risks still seem too high. The trailer is promised for the Sochi market; the overall ad spend is 90-100 million rubles.
The filmmakers presented a second teaser to audiences, which fully reflected both the scope of the concept and the quality of its execution. However, it should be noted that the clip is intended for cinemas only and will not be posted online.
