For six months the creative team worked to create a genuine man-made disaster: real metro carriages and their models were wrecked, glass was shattered, wiring was short-circuited, lights went out again and again (in some places there were none at all) and the water kept rising. The human panic could not be stopped — emotions overflowed and at times went off the scale.
From October 9 to 25, filming of the disaster movie "Metro" was held in Samara. For almost two weeks the Samara metro played the role of the Moscow one. Filming took place at the under-construction Alabinskaya station, at the operating Moskovskaya station and at the depot.<br />
Along with the director, cinematographers, production designers and stunt team, the city on the Volga was visited by the actors playing the leading roles: Sergei Puskepalis, Anatoly Bely, Alexey Bardukov, Ekaterina Shpitsa, Elena Panova, Anfisa Vistingauzen, as well as Sergei Sosnovsky, Alexander Naumov, Ivan Makarevich and others.<br />
In early October, Igor Tolstunov's Production Company ("PROFIT") began the final stage of filming the disaster movie "Metro", based on the novel of the same name by Dmitry Safonov. These days work on the film is taking place in the Samara metro — that is where the scenes set in metro stations are being shot. The Samara underground thus stands in for the Moscow one, where the events described in the script unfold.
